Bride of the Month: Lauren Bower

Here at Art Paper Scissors, we absolutely love bringing a couples’ wedding theme to life. From save-the-dates to invitations to thank you cards and everything in between, Art Paper Scissors is a couple's one-stop-shop for all things wedding stationery.

Today we are chatting with our August bride of the month, Lauren Bower. Lauren and her husband Daniel tied the knot just a few weeks ago in July 2018 with a gorgeous reception at the Molly Pitcher Inn. We loved designing their beautiful gray and blush watercolor floral wedding invitations, save-the-dates and ceremony stationery - complete with a cute tandem bike theme!

Lauren tells all about her wedding day, theme and plenty of advice - read on and enjoy these beautiful photos, captured by Ash Sanabria Photography.

Art Paper Scissors: Tell us about your wedding day. The date, place and any extra fun details you would like to share.

Lauren: My wedding day was truly a dream come true. When people ask me how my wedding day went, I always say I had the time of my life because it was. My husband and I had the best time celebrating with our nearest and dearest that we are constantly wishing we could relive that day! We got married July 27th, 2018 on my grandma’s 86th birthday. We knew sharing our special day with her birthday would make our wedding that much more memorable!

We were married by our good family friend Deacon Daniel Sakowski at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Farmingdale, New Jersey. The ceremony location was especially meaningful to me as it was the church the family has belonged to for over 20 years. The reception was at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, New Jersey. The Molly Pitcher Inn truly knows how to throw a party and our guests were amazed with the beautiful views of the Navensik River and impressed with how delicious the food was!

Art Paper Scissors: How do you remember that special day? Any great memory that stands out?

Lauren: There are two memories that stand out to me. The first was seeing Dan at the end of the altar waiting for me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him that I didn’t even notice everyone staring at me. I had the biggest smile on my face and in that moment nothing else mattered! I also remember sitting at our sweetheart table during our reception and thinking “Wow, this is my wedding, this is really my wedding, this is actually happening!”

Art Paper Scissors: What is your favorite part about being married?

Lauren: My favorite part about being married is that my husband and I are now a family. He is my strongest support system and I am his. I feel invincible with him by my side.

Art Paper Scissors: Describe your wedding theme and feel in 3 words. Why did you choose this theme?

Lauren: Traditional, classic and romantic.

I am a very traditional person and I always have been. I knew that my wedding would represent my traditional side. I incorporated details in my wedding that my mother had in her wedding. We danced with our parents, we had a cake cutting, a bouquet toss and a garter toss. I wanted my wedding to be classic. My dress had a very classic and timeless look to it, nothing too trendy about it. I didn’t want to look back at my wedding in 20 years and think “Oh that was so 2018!” I used this motto in all of my decision making. The colors we chose, dusty rose, dove gray and charcoal gray really brought out the romantic feel. The florals also brought out our romantic theme.

Art Paper Scissors: How did you decide on your gray, blush and watercolor floral wedding invitations - and your super-cute matching save-the-dates (with the bike!)?

Lauren: When I got engaged, I thought I wanted a rustic wedding with a lace dress, and a navy/pastel peach color scheme. My dress decided everything. Future brides - pick your venue, then pick your dress before you make any other big decisions! I ended up falling in love with a dress that was the complete opposite of my vision that I almost didn’t even try it on! I accompanied my fit and flare satin strapless dress with a beautiful belt. The belt had pink flowers and gray lace which is how I decided on my color scheme!

The tandem bike idea came from my husband. We recently ordered bikes from Amazon and he put them together. He was hoping someone would gift us a tandem bike for our wedding as he’s always wanted one! The Knot offered a wedding website theme that was tandem bicycles and it took off from there. We used our bicycles in our engagement photo shoot and everyone loved it!

Art Paper Scissors: What design element or feature was a “must have” for your wedding invitations?

Lauren: What was a must have for us was that the invitations matched our color scheme and our save-the-dates. I was just about to order save-the-dates online when I read an article that said try to find your invitationer early so you can use them for your save-the-dates, invites and all wedding paper needs. I am so glad I read this article and found Lisa from APS after that! The cohesion between my save-the-dates, invitations, ceremony programs, table numbers, menus, escort cards and thank you notes really added a nice touch to my wedding. Guests took notice!

Art Paper Scissors: What advice do you have for other brides and grooms looking to incorporate their theme or personal elements into their wedding invitations?

Lauren: Let your theme come to you! My original vision was way off what my dream wedding ended up coming together to be. The tandem bicycle theme just came to us and our colors were inspired by the belt on my dress. It all worked out perfectly and I couldn’t be happier with how our wedding came together.

Save-the-dates are a great way to use playful elements, like we did with the bicycle, and invitations set the tone for your wedding day.  Look on Pinterest for ideas. Our table numbers were pictures of us at the age and they were a big hit. Lisa is so great and she will make your vision come to life!
